We wonder why there are so many people with mental health issues. Homeless on the streets, white males shooting up schools, mothers driving onto baseball fields, “successful” fashion designers taking their own lives.

31 years ago today, my mom took her own life. She was an amazing woman, and a force of nature. My life has been forever shaped not only in an homage to her, but also in the gut-wrenching never-ending ache from the hole she left behind…

International Women’s Day

Today I’m going to celebrate International Women’s Day by wearing clothes of my choosing, going to work, driving my car, eating healthy food, talking freely with the opposite sex, spending money that I earn, appreciating the husband that i chose and love and who values me as an equal, being grateful that I can choose to not have children, and being thankful for the warm, dry and safe roof over my head. Because many women can’t.
